In case you had not heard, I will be showing work in The Chicago Project IV Exhibition at Catherine Edelman Gallery in Chicago.  The opening reception is this Friday night, July 15th, from 5-8pm.

The exhibition will also include Matt Austin, Justyna Badach, Jeremy Bolen, Dan Bradica, Troy Flinn, Lenny Gilmore, Wm. Bradley Johnson, Bill O’Donnell, TJ Proechel, Charlie Simokaitis and Shane Welch.

]]> http://www.natemathews.com/blog/2011/06/21/469/feed/ 0 http://www.natemathews.com/blog/2011/06/20/460/ http://www.natemathews.com/blog/2011/06/20/460/#comments Mon, 20 Jun 2011 17:09:53 +0000 Nate Mathews http://www.natemathews.com/blog/?p=460 I think my work is beginning to branch off a bit lately.  A few years back I was sticking to a very strict set of rules for wether or not an image fit into my project.  This was in part because early when I was in grad school I had a problem with photographing absolutely anything that interested me and they were only loosely connected.  The problem with my strict guidelines is first that the images started to all look very much alike, and second that I have been prevented myself from making some real good images that don’t fit with the previous work.  So in the past six months to a year I have been loosening up a little and I will show you some of what that looks like starting with this image.

I was took first place in the National Juried Exhibition (Juror Andy Adams of Flack Photo) with this image at the Steenbock Gallery in Madison.  One of the awards is a solo exhibition next year.
