Ok, I have not posted in 3 months

Ok, I have not posted in 3 months.  So, what has been going on?

I have a show up at Morton College in Cicero (comes down this sunday).  There is a good mix of work with 1-2 images that I have never shown before.

I have some work in a group exhibition “The Photographic Experience” at the Preston Contemporary Art Center in New Mexico that will also be published in Photo Technique Magazine in July.

I have a piece in a show at the Wright Museum of Art in Beloit.

And next month I will be in a group show “Chicago Project IV” at Catherine Edelman Gallery in Chicago.  The opening reception is July 15th (also my birthday) and the show goes through September 3rd. Other artists in the show include Matt Austin, Justyna Badach, Jeremy Bolen, Dan Bradica, Troy Flinn, Lenny Gilmore, Wm. Bradley Johnson, Bill O’Donnell, TJ Proechel, Charlie Simokaitis and Shane Welch.

Ephemera Exhibition

I’m pleased to announce my inclusion in an exhibition on the theme of the ephemera opening next week at Northwest Missouri State University. Works selected for this exhibit will explore the notion of time, impermanence, illusion, ruin, and/or the temporary as primary characteristics.

The show will be up from February 21 – March 18, 2011 and is Juried by Daniel Keegan, the Director of the Milwaukee Art Museum. There is an opening reception at the The DeLuce Gallery on Monday February 21st, 2011, at 7 p.m. If you are in the Maryville area, please check it out. Unfortunately I will be unable to attend the opening.

PhotoDimensional and Katalin Deér

I had the pleasure of hearing the Artists talk last night at the MoCP for the opening of their new show PhotoDimensional (through April 19th). The show deals with the translation of 3D objects into 2 dimensional Photographs (or vice versa).

I particularly enjoyed the work of Katalin Deér. This was first due to her sculptures that incorporated photographs, but I really love that she used concrete within her work. Anyone who can convince a museum to allow them to pour concrete on the wood floor easily wins my admiration over.

Intervention

Tonight is the opening of Intervention at Vespine Gallery with works by Brandon Blunden, Andrew McComb, and my good friend Allison Grant.
Opening 7-9p, February 13th
Show runs through February 28th

Curtis Mann 12×12 at the MCA Chicago

My good friend from grad school Curtis Mann has a 12×2 show at the Museum of Contemporary Art opening this Friday 6-10pm. The show runs February 7 to March 1, with a lecture on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, 6:30 pm.

This is a must see if you are a Chicagoan interested in photography.
Congrats Curt, see you Friday!
