Tonight I began to chant “four weeks” over and over again in my head.

This is the method I use to hold back the stress (panic attacks) related to finishing grad school (the thesis paper, finishing everything for the big show, and particularly the part about finding a “real” job). “Four weeks” from today (Sunday) is graduation day!

I can’t believe it’s almost over. It seems like only months ago that I was in my first semester wondering what I got myself into, struggling with the costs, getting to know my class mates, and terrified of every critique. And now I miss the consistency of the seminar, the social interaction with my friends, and the feeling of being driven by a critique. (OK it still seems expensive)

I wonder what life would have been without grad school? Who would I be without this experience? Probably, I’d be working for a big corporation in the burbs, married, with children on the way, living in the anonymity of a suburban Mc Mansion… like most of my high school friends. Not that it would be a bad life, but I feel like I always saw the world different and was not meant for an ordinary life.

Serero Architects has won the bid to add this unique platform to the top observation deck of the Eiffel Tower. I personally don’t think it fits well with the original design.
